This wine inherits all the luxurious McLaren Vale Shiraz fruit characteristics that you have come to expect from Squid Ink, but without the influence of new American oak. With the emphasis being on fruit quality, we only selected fruit from our multi award winning Squid Ink block. As there is no dominate oak to hide behind you will find this wine to be full of fruit and spice flavours.

As the wine is only slightly oaked the nose is dominated by fruit aromas of ripe blackberries, raspberry and plum with some spicy notes. |

Full and round with ripe berry, plum and spicy flavours to the fore. The wine shows excellent concentration of the flavours with a long finish and soft tannins. |

Why Descendant of Squid Ink?
A style produced in the region for decades, but sadly these days neglected, with most producers committing their best fruit to new oak. To compliment our superb Squid Ink range this wine is produced solely from fruit from our Squid Ink vineyard but made in the older style – for us, something new. Enriched with full flavours of blackberry, plum and spice, this wine has a long finish and soft tannins creating a classic Shiraz.
